EFCYV's Senior Pastor is Bill Wilcox. Pastor Bill was born in Bakersfield, California in 1952. He came to know Jesus personally while in his freshman year there at the local junior college. It was through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ that he was presented with the claims of Jesus and found new life in the Messiah in March of 1971 while attending a church service at what was then called Fruitvale Community Church. He left Bakersfield in the fall of 1973 to attend Cal State Long Beach where he completed course work for a Bachelor of Science degree in 1976.
Pastor Bill entered into full time vocational Christian service in February of 1977, joining the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. He and Tina were married in April of that year and assigned to the campus ministry of Campus Crusade in Bakersfield. They directed the work on the campuses of Cal State Bakersfield and the local junior college for the next three and one-half years. During that time (in 1979) they were blessed with the first of their three children.
Bill and Tina left the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in 1980 and moved to Fullerton, California. There Bill began work on his Master of Divinity degree from Talbot Theological Seminary, a graduate school of Biola University. He received his M.Div. in May of 1984. During his senior year at Talbot, God called Bill to serve Him in pastoral ministry.
Before coming to Yucca Valley in 1997, Pastor Bill served, for twelve years, as the Associate Pastor of Youth Ministries at Hesperia Community Church. In September of 1997, God directed Pastor Bill to serve as the Senior Pastor of the Evangelical Free Church of Yucca Valley.
In addition to his shepherding duties at the EFCYV, Pastor continues working on a Doctor of Ministry degree through Talbot Theological Seminary. Pastor Bill holds his ministry license through this local church while he is in process for his permanent credential through the Evangelical Free Church of America.
The core of Pastor Bill's ministry philosophy is the faithful exposition of God's holy and inerrant Word, the Bible. His teaching includes practical and relevant application of the truths of Scripture in the day-to-day lives of people. In his own words Pastor Bill puts it this way,
The challenges of living with purpose in a new millennium are huge. We need no less than a message from Heaven itself to show us where we can find meaning and fulfillment. The great news is that God has written a love letter to humanity. His love letter to each one of us is the Bible. In it He traces not only His activities in the past and present, but also He reveals His plans for the future. We dare not ignore what God has already spoken to those He so dearly loves.
Tina has worked alongside her husband at Campus Crusade for Christ in their early years of ministry. She is now the EFCYV wedding coordinator and is involved with women's ministries. Tina also works as a substitute teacher for Morongo Unified School District
